Washing out an expose screen is a simple process. It can be accomplised with a water hose with a garden sprayer attached or you can use a 1000 psi pressure washer as long as you keep a safe distance from the screen (2-3 ft).
1. In a washout booth wet both sides of the screen. Allow the water to sit on the screen, this will begin the process of softening the unexposed emulson.
2. After a minute or two spray with water and allow it to sit again for another couple of minutes.
3. Now you should see the emulsion wash away easily while spraying with water.
4. Once the image is completely clear you can lay the screen on top of sheets of newspaper laid flat on a table. A single sheet of newspaper can be placed on top of the screen and gently rubbed with your hand to remove excess water.
5. Compressed air can be used at low pressure to blow moisture out of the image. This is not necessary but can be helpful.
6. After you wash out the screen you should use block out pens or liquid block out to fill in unwanted holes with a piece of cardboard or paint brush.
7. Lay the screen flat to allow it to completely dry.
