Screen Mesh Degreaser
| Why is Degreasing the Screen Important? Degreasing screens is a very important part of the screen preperation process. It's important to degrease your screens prior to applying emulsion or film because new screens or re-stretched screens need to be free of grease, oil and dirt to avoid problems with the stencil quality. Your hands will leave an oily residue while dust and dirt can accumulate during storage. Using a degreaser removes grease, oil and dirt from the screen mesh fabric so that the emulsion adheres well. Degreasing the screen: A. Place your screen into your sink and get it wet. B. Spray a small amount of degreaser onto both sides the screen. C. Using a white scrub pad, scrub from top to bottom and side to side on both sides of the screen. We recommend Chem 200, or Franmar D-Grease as the degreasing agent. D. Rinse the screen thoroughly with cool water on both sides. E. If you will be applying Ez-Film or any another Capilary film you may proceed to apply the film while the mesh is still wet. (Instructions) F. If using emulsion to coat the screen allow the screen to dry in a clean, dry environment. It's important to make sure the screens are kept in a clean, dry environment until ready for use. |
